Following the major changes resulting from the introduction of the Tax Treatment of Pensions Act (Wet fiscale behandeling van pensioenen) and the Pensions Act (De Pensioenwet), Gielink has been busy working on changes to pension plans and the effects of the financial crisis on pension plans. The considerable reduction to the maximum amount of pension accrual permitted under tax law and the continual changes being made to the pensions system are once again giving rise to a considerable number of questions amongst organisations, pension administrators and other professionals.

As per 1 July 2023 the Dutch Pension Reform Act (‘WTP’) entered into force. In the near future this will raise many legal and fiscal questions. Gielink will assist his clients on these issues with full commitment.
Gielink’s advisory practice also includes cross-border pension issues. If necessary, this takes place in collaboration with local pension specialists abroad.

Gielink is a member of various Dutch pension associations. He is also the co-author of two pension books and editor of a Dutch pension magazine. He regularly publishes items on various topics relating to pensions, including frequent specialist articles on pension matters. He also lectures regularly on current pension issues.
